Competition to design a footbridge over the Manchester Ship Canal, in front of the new Lowry Centre. Shortlisted to the last two from original 75 entries.
The proposed is an 80m span steel bridge, and lifts by ‘scissors’ action, evoking the movement of the wings of a bird, to allow the passage of ships.
