The “Park in the Sky”, our concept for the Mayor’s Landmark Observation Tower competition in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, is an exciting new take on urban parks.
At 150m in the air, the 60m diameter park- filled with trees and plants, sits on a slender metal column of 6m diameter containing the vertical circulations. The sense of drama is combined with an artistic intervention by artist Gillian Wearing, engaging the local community.
When you look at the views from the top of the elevated park, you will not only see London and all its landmarks but thousands of homes of people from all walks of life.
